Mark Robinson, North Carolina’s Republican candidate for governor calls himself a black Nazi
Mark Robinson, North Carolina’s Republican candidate for governor, faces backlash after a CNN report linked him to inflammatory online comments made over a decade ago.

North Carolina GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Mark Robinson Faces New Scandal Over Online Comments

There he goes again, this guy just loves to talk. This time, North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, the Republican nominee for governor, apparently loves chatting on adult porn sites and is now in even more controversy after CNN reported he made inflammatory comments on an adult website. The comments, allegedly posted over a decade ago under the username “minisoldr,” include claims that Robinson referred to himself as a “Black Nazi,” expressed support for slavery, and admitted to watching transgender pornography.

Robinson has vehemently denied the allegations, releasing a video statement on X (formerly Twitter) where he dismissed the claims as “outrageous lies” and part of a “high-tech lynching,” drawing a comparison to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who faced similar accusations before his appointment. Despite the scandal, Robinson has made it clear that he has no plans to exit the governor’s race.

The CNN investigation traced the controversial posts to Robinson, noting that the username “minisoldr” was used across various platforms tied to Robinson, including YouTube and Pinterest. The posts allegedly contained racially charged language, including Robinson stating he would support reinstating slavery, writing, “Slavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I wish they would bring it back. I would certainly buy a few.” Other remarks linked to the account included derogatory references to civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., calling him a “commie bastard.”

Additionally, the report highlights that Robinson, under the same username, admitted to watching transgender pornography and reminisced about watching women shower at a gym as a teenager. “Ahhhhh memories!!!!” he wrote in one post. CNN matched these comments to Robinson through a combination of personal details in the profile and the use of specific phrases like “gag a maggot,” which he has used publicly.

Robinson’s campaign has already been marred by past incendiary remarks, with criticism of the LGBTQ+ community, Jewish people, and his comments about violence drawing significant backlash. This latest revelation is likely to further weaken his chances in the gubernatorial race, as his campaign has already been slipping in the polls in recent months.

Robinson, however, is doubling down on his innocence. In his video statement, he addressed the allegations directly, saying, “These are not my words. You know my character. This is a smear campaign led by my opponent, Josh Stein, to distract from the real issues.” He also emphasized his transparency throughout the race and accused the media of trying to sabotage his candidacy.

Political fallout has been swift. State Senate nominee Scott Lassiter, a fellow Republican, called for Robinson to drop out of the race, stating, “If the recent allegations against Robinson are true, combined with his previous public rhetoric, I believe it’s time for him to step aside. North Carolinians deserve a viable choice in this election.”

The scandal has also cast a shadow over former President Donald Trump, who endorsed Robinson earlier this year and referred to him as “Martin Luther King on steroids.” Trump’s endorsement of Robinson was seen as crucial for the Republican effort to win North Carolina, a key swing state in the upcoming presidential election. However, with Robinson’s campaign now in jeopardy, some in the Trump camp are reportedly urging him to distance himself from Robinson. Robinson has also been absent from several campaign events in recent days, including one with Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, raising speculation about the future of his candidacy.

The CNN report comes at a pivotal time in Robinson’s campaign, as he tries to navigate the growing scrutiny while maintaining his support among Republican voters. His campaign, which gained attention for its strong stance on gun rights and conservative education policies, is now facing significant headwinds as the allegations dominate headlines.

Robinson’s political rise began in 2018 when a viral video of his impassioned speech supporting gun rights catapulted him to national attention. He was elected North Carolina’s lieutenant governor in 2020, becoming the state’s first Black man to hold the office. Since then, he has positioned himself as a champion of conservative values, frequently advocating for gun rights, school vouchers, and restrictions on abortion. His candidacy has also been marked by controversial statements, including comparing abortion to murder and criticizing the teaching of critical race theory in schools.

As the election approaches, Robinson’s ability to overcome the mounting allegations against him will be closely watched. While his supporters remain steadfast, the growing calls for his withdrawal from the race signal that the scandal could be a turning point in North Carolina’s political landscape.
